Three things I will do to get better in math and math teaching before field placement are as follows:
1. I will find educational and technology websites to help better their addition and subtraction skills.
2. I will build my confidence in my own math skills and teaching it to students. If I am confident, they will feel confident, and they will succeed.
3. I will ensure I know the math content inside and out no matter how difficult the content may seem. This will require using outside sources of my school and bettering myself to feel I am comfortable with teaching the content in various ways so my students can grasp the concept with ease.

Content: Shapes (Polygons)
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.G.A.1
Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Student Objectives: Students will be able to construct their own shapes that share similar and different attributes concerning polygons.
Formative Assessment: Custom made worksheet identifying shapes based on their attributes
Lesson Development: Explore the room in partners (scavenger hunt) to see what familiar shapes they can find/see. Write down observations - see how many sides they can find. Come back together as a class to identify shapes.
Closure: Review what we did, what we learned. Have students use vocabulary of the lesson to summarize what they learned in a verbal synopsis.
